Overview

Embark on a thrilling four-day extension and uncover the wonders of Southern Africa on this memorable journey from Victoria Falls to Chobe National Park. Stay just moments from Victoria Falls and feel the mist on your skin as you explore the surrounding rainforest. Cruise the Zambezi River at sunset, spotting hippos and elephants in the golden light. Then, cross into Botswana for a day of discovery in Chobe National Park, where game drives and river safaris reveal some of Africa’s most iconic wildlife. A seamless blend of adventure and comfort, this short escape leaves a lasting impression.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Johannesburg, Victoria Falls

From Johannesburg, fly to Victoria Falls Airport, where you’ll be met and transferred to Ilala Lodge Hotel. Ideally located just a short walk from the entrance to Victoria Falls, the lodge offers comfortable, well-appointed rooms and unique views of the mist that rises from the mighty waterfall, which is known as Mosi-oa-Tunya – ‘The Smoke that Thunders’. Later this afternoon, enjoy a relaxing sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. As you drift along, keep an eye out for hippos, crocodiles, elephants and birdlife. Finger food and drinks are served on board as you soak in views of the sun sinking below the horizon. Return to your lodge this evening for dinner.

Day 2: Victoria Falls

This morning, visit the Big Tree, a large baobab estimated to be over a thousand years old. Continue to Victoria Falls National Park for a guided walk through the rainforest that surrounds the falls. Learn about the area’s unique ecosystem and take in views of the falls from a variety of vantage points. Later, perhaps enjoy a scenic helicopter flight (own expense).

Day 3: Chobe National Park

After breakfast, cross the border into Botswana and travel to Chobe National Park, known for its dense wildlife population and large elephant herds. Begin the day with a cruise along the Chobe River, where animals often gather to drink and bathe. Lions, hippos, buffalos, giraffes, hyenas, zebras and elephants are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the unique animals which call this region home. After lunch at a riverside lodge, head out on a game drive through the park in open safari vehicles. Afterwards, return to your lodge to spend the rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 4: Depart Victoria Falls

Bid farewell to the beauty of Victoria Falls before your transfer to Victoria Falls Airport for your onward flight.
