Itinerary

Be met on arrival in Alice Springs. Nestled between the MacDonnell Ranges, this iconic outback town is near the geographical centre of Australia, made famous by its rich pioneering history and enchanting ancient Aboriginal culture. Venture out of the town to visit the spectacular Standley Chasm, where you can wind through the striking gorge between towering rock walls. This evening, enjoy a Welcome Dinner with your fellow travellers.

The Australian Outback comes to life today as you travel through rugged landscapes to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Uluru is one of Australia’s most famous and sacred sites and was first viewed by Europeans in 1872. During a visit to the park’s Cultural Centre, you will learn about Anangu culture and the park’s natural environment. Enjoy your Insider Experience this evening.

Insider Experience – Field of Light

This evening, be thrilled by the acclaimed Field of Light art installation, which has delighted visitors since April 2016. With more than 50,000 solar-powered stems, covering the area of seven football fields, the exhibition is aptly named Tili Wiru Tjuta Nyakunytjaku or ‘looking at lots of beautiful lights’.

Enjoy your Insider Experience very early this morning. In the afternoon, travel to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas). Take in panoramic views of the domes and walk to Walpa Gorge. Insider Experience – Sunrise Over Uluru

Early in the morning, marvel at the magnificent sunrise over Uluru and take a guided tour around the base of this famous monolith, viewing ancient caves and fascinating Aboriginal rock art sites.

Travel to Kings Canyon, in the heart of Watarrka National Park, for an afternoon walk along Kings Creek to the canyon’s floor. Enjoying dinner at your resort this evening.

This morning join the Kings Canyon Rim Walk Insider Experience. In the afternoon, you may wish to partake in an optional Karrke Aboriginal experience (additional expense) or spend time at your leisure. After dinner, enjoy the Kings Canyon Light-Towers art installation at the resort.

Insider Experience – Kings Canyon Rim Walk

Embark on the Kings Canyon Rim Walk. On this captivating hike, venture around the rim of the canyon’s incredible sandstone walls. After reaching the lookout, be rewarded as you marvel at the spectacular views of the canyon itself. About halfway along is the Garden of Eden, featuring a waterhole and bright riverine vegetation.

Insider Experience – Kings Canyon Light-Towers

A special experience awaits at Kings Canyon Light-Towers, a collection of 69 two-metre towers which transform colour as a celestial soundscape sets the scene. Be captivated by this outback maze of light and sound that illuminates the night sky.

Insider Experience – Alice Springs School of the Air

Visit the world’s largest classroom. Covering more than 1.3 million square kilometres, Alice Springs School of the Air has been bridging education gaps caused by remote locations and providing schooling to children at cattle stations, roadhouses, Aboriginal communities and national parks with daily lessons since 1951.

Insider Experience – Tour the Royal Flying Doctor Service Tourist Facility

Take a tour of the Royal Flying Doctor Service Tourist Facility. Sit inside an RFDS aircraft, see historic radios used by the doctors and discover how the doctors operated in 1928. With no navigational aid and no radio, the first flying doctor, Arthur Affleck, operated using only a compass and map.
